Chelsea 8 Fulham 0 |
Our development squad recorded an emphatic
victory at Cobham over neighbours Fulham as they concluded their
pre-season programme in style.
Joe Edwards’s side begin their Premier League 2 campaign next Friday against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and will be hoping for a repeat performance of the dominant display recorded against the Cottagers.
Dujon Sterling was a constant menace to the visiting defenders as he consistently charged up and down the right flank from wing-back and his goal after six minutes was the first of eight dispatched past the Fulham goalkeeper. A pass down the right channel tricked Taye Ashby-Hammond into committing to the edge of his 18-yard box and Sterling’s deft lob was executed to perfection.
Fulham had opportunities in the first period and Stephen Humphrys
spurned two decent chances to test Marcin Bulka before Harvey St Clair
(pictured top celebrating), operating in a central striker role, doubled
the lead with a clever run and finish after Callum Hudson-Odoi had
carved open the visiting backline.Joe Edwards’s side begin their Premier League 2 campaign next Friday against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and will be hoping for a repeat performance of the dominant display recorded against the Cottagers.

Hudson-Odoi’s lively performance caught the eye but he somehow stayed off the scoresheet as he was denied by two impressive stops from Ashby-Hammond. The score remained 2-0 until the final half-hour when Edwards’s side pushed forward relentlessly for goals.
St Clair notched his hat-trick with another clever finish across the goalkeeper and then from the penalty spot after Sterling had been fouled, before Ethan Ampadu’s header and Miro Muheim’s curling strike extended the advantage. Isaac Christie-Davies and Jacob Maddox completed the scoring late on to give the young Blues a confidence-boosting big win before next week’s curtain-raiser.
