Richard Nartey signed as an Under-9 and is a quick, composed ball-playing defender. He mainly plays on the right side of the back four, is comfortable on the left too and made three appearances for the youth team in the 2014/15 season while still a schoolboy.
In his debut campaign as a scholar, he made 18 appearances for Joe Edwards's Under-18s and scored goals in away league draws at Swansea and Fulham, the latter a dramatic stoppage-time leveller. He made his debut for the Under-21s in April 2016.
He featured regularly during our Treble-winning Under-18 season in 2016/17 and stepped up to make half a dozen appearances for our development squad, coming up against first team strikers Jay Rodriguez and Danny Welbeck in Premier League 2.
In February 2017, the defender signed a new contract at the club until the end of 2017/18.
